We get got this Onkyo DV-CP706B Black Friday item just a few weeks, but are very pleased by having it. The only snag was actually when we hooked it up to both our receiver (with RCA analog jacks) and our recent HDTV (by having an HDMI cable television) so that we could possibly play our CD's via our receiver and our DVD's through the television. The trouble was actually in hooking up the TV. We got a picture but no sound. Chatting to our TV technician was actually of no support. We figured the problem out via trial and error, namely that the Onkyo's menu got a variety of sound possibilities, to incorporate some that we received no plan what they were for. One possibility, I think it was actually the "PCM" choice, executed the trick when we turned it on. Supposedly this option lowers the kHz frequency of the result so that it is actually compatible with the TV (whatever all that means). When I clicked that choice on, the sound turned via the TELEVISION. These guidance booklets all assume that consumers grasp these geeky terms, so you get to be something of a detective to finally figure it all out.
I mainly bought this Onkyo DV-CP706B Black Friday player since I get an Onkyo receiver. I had to return the first player I got. I got the same problem as some of the other reviewers; it might not play DVDs by having minor scratches. I tested 4 rental DVDs and only 1 might play. All 4 would play on a further DVD player. I achieve not assume this is actually a "large side" component issue but a "reasonable end" high quality control problem.
The replacing Onkyo DV-CP706B Black Friday player has definitely been working fine so far by having CDs and rental DVDs. I have definitely even tried DVDs by having jpeg pictures. It requires the best file size and utilizing the HD jpeg setting. It looked to work best by having pictures that were 4x6 sizes at 150 dpi. The complete size (2 to 3 Megs) pictures were actually showcased smaller, quite possibly compressed to fit the screen size.
I might tell you if you currently have an Onkyo receiver, this Onkyo DV-CP706B Black Friday is actually worth thinking of. Attempt a few rental DVDs in it to observe if it is actually functioning correctly. If not, return it for an additional one, Amazon makes this a pretty simple process.
